Driving Score is like having a driving coach in your pocket. This innovative feature is designed to help improve your driving proficiency by providing you with a daily driving score on sensor-collected vehicle data. The data is used to calculate five key indicators that identify and track how you drive.
If you decide to join the Usage-Based Insurance program, your Driving Score may result in lower insurance cost.

Usage-based Insurance, or UBI, is a program designed to give you access to savings opportunities from participating insurance companies that offer competitive rates.
UBI uses driving data to help insurers to tailor insurance policies to individual drivers based on their driving patterns and behaviors.
If you decide to opt into the Usage-Based Insurance program, you may be eligible to receive certain discounts for your eligible vehicle insurance. Working with LexisNexis® Risk Solutions, a leading provider of insurance telematics solutions, we are excited to provide this feature with our select number of carriers.

A driving score can provide insight into your driving behavior by looking at various factors over time.
Reviewing your weekly driving score can help you to identify specific driving habits or behaviors to improve your driving score.
Eligible Kia vehicles enrolled in Kia Connect will receive a driving score. The driving score can be viewed in your owner's account via the Kia Access app (in the Convenience menu) or the Owner's Portal.
Currently, Kia is offering Driving Score with the following vehicles:

The driving score is calculated with a proprietary algorithm that evaluates speed, braking, acceleration, and overall driving behavior. The algorithm considers your driving habits and mileage traveled and assigns a score accordingly. You may refer to the Kia Connect Terms of Service (https://owners.kia.com/content/owners/en/terms-of-service.html) for more information.
In order to generate your driving score, your driving data is shared with a third-party partner. You may find more information on how your data is shared by referring to the Kia Connect Privacy Policy.
Your driving data is not shared with insurance providers unless (1) you consent to sharing data when enrolling to the Usage-Based Insurance (“UBI”) Program and (2) consent to share the data when requesting an insurance quote on select insurance providers’ websites.
LexisNexis Risk Solutions is a third-party service provider that offers certain services to insurance providers. LexisNexis Risk Solutions calculates and delivers the driving score and behavioral analytics from your driving data. Visit https://lexisnexisrisk.com for more information.
Name, address, phone number, email address, vehicle identification number (VIN), and driving data from your vehicle that records the time of drive, speed, braking, and acceleration. Security protocols are in place to help safeguard your personal information.
Your average trip speed is calculated using recorded speeds during the selected time period. If your average trip speed is high, reducing your average trip speed will count towards improving your overall driving score.
Generally, hard braking is associated with higher accident risk. Looking farther down the road allows drivers to anticipate slowing traffic, accidents, stopped vehicles, and other road obstructions, which permits drivers to initiate braking in a timely and safe manner. Doing so can reduce the risk of an accident and allow the brakes to last longer.
Maximum speed limits are enforced to increase the safety of drivers. Abiding by the posted speed limits helps to reduce the risk of an accident while on the highway. If you exceed 80 MPH, this will count against your overall driving score.
Time of day driving rating identify that if you are driving at higher or lower risk time.Typically, driving in the morning on weekends is best to lower the risk of accidents. Generally, driving at night and during the early morning hours has a higher-than-average accident risk.
Your driving score and events are calculated daily.
Usage-Based Insurance uses driving data to help insurers to tailor insurance policies to individual drivers based on their driving patterns.
The program shares your driving data with insurance providers only if you decide to share your vehicle's data when you are requesting an insurance quote.
Typically, 90 days after Kia Connect enrollment, customers will be offered the opportunity to sign up for the Usage-Based Insurance program. You can find the option to sign up for the program at the bottom of the driving score screen in your owner’s account.
If you choose to join the Usage-Based Insurance program, select insurance providers will be notified that driving data for a specific vehicle is available when requesting new insurance quotes. The insurance provider may request permission to access your driving data to potentially apply additional discounts.
Insurance companies receive driving data and driving scores that are associated with how your Kia has been driven.
Yes. You can stop sharing your driving data with third-party insurance companies anytime. Please go to the Usage-Based Insurance page under Driving Score in your Kia owner's account and select 'Leave Program.'
The score is based on the vehicle, not a specific driver. It is calculated from the cumulative driving data from all drivers of the particular vehicle enrolled in the program.
If you do not see your driving score, it could be due to one of the following reasons:
- Your vehicle Model and Model Year are not part of the program.
- More driving data is required to generate a score. Once you enroll in Kia Connect, it usually takes 3-5 days of driving data to generate a driving score.
- Technical issues: In some cases, technical problems may prevent your driving score from being displayed.

Kia Connect Lite is only available for five (5) years starting from the new vehicle retail sale/lease date as recorded by the dealer. After this fifth (5th) year date passes, Kia Connect Lite will no longer be available for the vehicle. For instance, if an owner purchases a new vehicle and immediately enrolls it in a Kia Connect ULTIMATE subscription for the first two (2) years of ownership and then cancels the subscription, Kia Connect Lite would only be available for the remaining three (3) years in the five (5) year period.
