3G SVLTE Wireless Service Update
General Information
Certain Kia models equipped with Kia Connect voice services (such as 911 Connect and Roadside Assistance) use a legacy voice technology, called simultaneous voice LTE (also known as SVLTE), which relies on the 3G cellular network. Because the network service provider is shutting down the 3G network, it requires the SVLTE to be upgraded to voice-over LTE (also known as VOLTE) by December 31, 2022, to continue the voice services.
These network service provider changes are beyond Kia’s control.
Kia models supported by 3G SVLTE technology require a software update before December 31, 2022, to continue using Kia Connect's voice services, such as 911 Connect and Roadside Assistance. Without the update, the voice features will no longer work.
Which Kia Models are Impacted
The following Kia models are impacted:
All 2016 - 2018 K900
All 2017 Soul EV and Soul EV+
All 2017 Optima PHEV
2019 Optima LX Trim with Premium Package
All 2019 Optima S Trim
2019 Optima EX Trim (EX Trim with Premium Package not impacted)
All 2019 Niro PHEV LX and EX Trims
All 2020 - 2021 Sportage S Trim with Premium Package
All 2020 - 2021 Telluride LX and S Trims
How to prevent Kia Connect Voice-Based Services Disruption
Vehicle owners of the below listed model year, model and trims, go to https://update.kia.com/US/EN , and click on the “Notifications” tab, then the “Display Audio Software Update” link, then click on ‘List of vehicles eligible for the Display Audio Gen1 update’ and follow the instruction. The update will require a USB drive.

All 2019 Niro PHEV LX and EX Trims
All 2020 - 2021 Sportage S Trim with Premium Package

Vehicle owners of the below listed model year, model and trims, go to https://update.kia.com/US/EN , and click on the "Navigation Updater Download" for your Mac or Windows, and follow the instructions. The update will require a USB drive or SD card.
All 2016 - 2018 K900
All 2017 Soul EV and Soul EV+
All 2017 Optima PHEV
Please update your system on or before 12/31/2022 to continue the voice-based Kia Connect service without interruption. Once you are updated, please allow up to 7 business days for your features to be restored.
